Without limiting the foregoing, the University may modify the open, closing and break dates for the Residence Halls. The University also may require a Resident to change rooms and/or vacate the residence halls for a period of time. These decisions by the University may be based on the need to provide accommodations for Residents during the academic year and/or to protect the health and safety of other Residents, employees, and/or the campus community, including but not limited to in response to risks and considerations related to COVID-19 or other infectious diseases. If the University makes any such change, Residents will be notified as soon as practicable under the circ*mstances. Any reduction in total number of available Occupancy days for a Resident, based on the University's decision under one of the above reasons, will result in a corresponding pro rata return to the Resident of rent paid to Housing and Dining. The rent is calculated by the amount paid by the Resident, less standard move out costs incurred by the University, which is generally around $215. A Resident will not incur any extra charge if the University requires the Resident to move rooms during the Occupancy period for one of these listed reasons. If a Resident elects to no longer occupy a Residential Space when a Residential Space is still available to them, the liquidated damages set out in the Contract apply, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
Sunday, Aug. 11-Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024: Residence Halls Open for Early Move-In
Residence halls open for early occupancy for the fall semester at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. Students will sign up for a specific move-in day and time. Move in during the early move in period will result in a $55 per day charge for each day prior to Aug. 14 the student is moved in. Meals for move-in week will begin with breakfast Aug. 12 at Derby Dining Center which will be the only dining center open until the evening meal on Aug. 14. Saturday, August 31, 2024 - Labor Day Weekend - Halls Open
All residence halls are open. Visit the dining services hours page for dining schedule and menu. No classes Monday, Sept. 2.
Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024- Fall Break - Halls Close
Residence halls close at noon Saturday, Nov. 23. The evening meal on Friday, Nov. 22, is the last meal served. Residence halls reopen for occupancy at noon on Sunday, Dec. 1. Breakfast on Monday, Dec. 2, is the first meal served.
Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024– Winter Break and End of Semester - Halls Close
Residence halls close at noon Saturday, Dec. 14. The evening meal on Friday, Dec. 13, is the last meal served.
Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025 - Residence Halls Open for Early Spring Semester Occupancy
Residence halls open for early spring semester occupancy at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. Students have the option to move into their permanent residence hall assignment earlier than the official opening date (Jan. 19). Students moving into the residence halls prior to Jan. 19 will be charged a daily fee covering housing and most meals. Students will sign up for a specific move-in day and time. Meals for early move-in students will begin with lunch on Jan. 16. Students needing to move into the residence halls prior to Jan. 16 will be accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025 - Residence Halls Officially Open for Spring Semester Occupancy
Residence halls open for spring semester occupancy at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19. Students will sign up for a specific move-in day and time. The first meal served is breakfast on Monday, Jan. 20. Visit the dining services hours page for dining schedule and menu. Tuesday, Jan. 21, is the first day of class for the spring semester.
Saturday, March 15, 2025 - Spring Break - Halls Close
Residence halls close at noon Saturday, March 15. The evening meal on Friday, March 14, is the last meal served. Residence halls reopen for occupacy at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 23. Breakfast on Monday, March 24, is the first meal served.
Saturday, May 17, 2025 - End of Semester - Halls Close
Residence halls close at noon Saturday, May 17. Residents who need to remain on campus must make prior arrangements with staff. The evening meal on Friday, May 16, is the last meal served.
